More about this item:

“Battle of Ascalon” by C.W Sharpe is the artist’s proof (embossed) engraving based on a painting of the same title by Gustave Doré. This work has an engraved signature by the engraver, C.W. Sharpe. The Battle of Ascalon took place on August 12 1099, following the capture of Jerusalem and is considered to be the final battle of the First Crusade.

Across the center of the top margin: London October 1st 1881. Published by Fairless & Beeforth, Dore Gallery, 35, New Bond Street, W. Copyright Registered. (The home of Sotheby's since 1917). There is some foxing around the margins (to be expected given the age), which does not affect the image, apart from some that is also visible along the top edge of the sky.
